Welcome Note
Dear Colleagues
It is with great honor that we announce Korea’s co-hosting role alongside Japan for the 52nd International NES Conference, scheduled to take place in Saitama, Japan, from August 27 to 29, 2025.
In Korea, there is an academic group comprising about 30 Oriental Medicine practitioners specializing in tinnitus, hearing loss, and vertigo.
Over the past 25 years, this group has fostered connections with NES through exchanges with Professor Sakata. While the majority of NES Society’s members are
Western medical practitioners, our Korean contingent is composed of Oriental Medicine professionals.
At the 52nd conference in Saitama, around ten Korean practitioners will present on the Oriental Medicine approach to diagnosing and treating tinnitus, hearing loss, and vertigo. This represents a unique perspective, differing from Western medical viewpoints, and we
encourage your interest and participation. We hope this conference will further the development of the NES Society and provide an opportunity for Korean members to contribute significantly.
We look forward to your attendance at the 52nd Saitama conference and anticipate a joyful meeting with Professor Sakata.
President of the Korean Tinnitus Association, Jaeok Hwang, Ph.D.
The International Neurootological and Equilibriometric Society (NES) was established in 1974 by the late Professor Claus-Frenz Claussen in Germany. In 2015, the NES was succeeded by Professor Agnes Szirmai in Hungary. NES is an organization comprised of doctors, clinical laboratory technicians, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, and nurses, all of whom are passionate about the study of neurootology.
This society is deeply involved in addressing issues related to balance function, dizziness, tinnitus, and hearing loss across various fields such as sports medicine, space medicine, public health, and clinical medicine, particularly in otorhinolaryngology, neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, and internal medicine.
The aim of our society is to contribute to the advancement and development of neurootology, and ultimately to the improvement of human happiness and welfare, by bringing together researchers and healthcare professionals from various international backgrounds to present new research findings and engage in direct discussions on fundamental and clinical issues.
At the general meeting of the 49th Annual Conference in 2022, it was decided that the 52nd Annual Conference would be co-hosted by South Korea and Japan, with Jaewook Hwang from South Korea and Hideaki Sakata from Japan serving as presidents. For this conference, we aim to invite researchers who will lead the society in the future, thereby contributing to the further development of the society and the progress of neurootology.
We sincerely request your support for the success of the conference and the advancement of the field of neurotology. We look forward to seeing you in Kawagoe, Japan, in August 2025.
